CGYHA Family Fun Day, August 2000

[ 2000 Aug "Family Fun Day" planning schedule ]

A warm cloudy was ideal weather for a Saturday in the park. More than a dozen children in costumes on decorated bikes were led on parade by a local police cruiser from the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club to the park. The softball games got started quickly with 3 teams and enjoyed by all who played. The kids had a number of games from basketball throw and soccer kicking competitions to a tug of war - alas no mud today. The clouds went away just in time for everyone to take a break around the barbeque. Everyone went home with prizes - or at least a full stomach from the hamburgs and dogs.

Everything went without a hitch thanks to many volunteers who organized games, got prizes, served up food and even signed up a few new members! Mayor Glenn Brooks wore out his soccer leg and praised the association for organizing an event like this. [Schedule, prizes, volunteers]
